Al Hamra Golf Club Welcome Message

Al Hamra Golf Club, Ras al Khaimah, Information Page.

The Peter Harradine-designed course at Al Hamra Golf Club takes many of its design features from traditional links style courses as it meanders around four inter-connected open water lagoons merging seamlessly with the water of the Arabian Gulf. Designed with five varying tee options on each hole, the Par 72 Championship course lends itself perfectly to all levels of golfers, providing the fledgling novice or the most accomplished of players with an enjoyable and interesting golfing challenge. Al Hamra Golf Club beckons golfers and visitors to sample its first-class facilities.

Complementing the Championship course is the Academy. With its stand alone clubhouse, it offers any level of golfer the perfect place to hone their skills from the extensive driving range, short game area and floodlit nine hole Par 3 Course. The Academy is also the perfect place to learn or advance your game under the astute guidance of our PGA Professionals on the latest V1 coaching software. If its range practice you are after then enjoy the fully floodlit practice facilities before testing your short game prowess around the Academy Par 3 Course.

Al Hamra doesn’t stop when the sun sets either with floodlit golf available on the Championship course with nine holes being made up of a composition of the front and back nine…ideal for those of us who work during the day or as a slight cooler alternative for those warm summer days.

Golf is not the only thing on offer at Al Hamra, within its two modern clubhouses lie three contrasting dining options Zahara’s, Lagoons Sports Bar and Dunes Café – all of which cater for a wide variety of tastes – visitors and golfers are sure to find the perfect dining experience.

Enjoy your Golf in Ras al Khaimah

There are some outstanding holes on this course - the Par 5s at 3 and 18. The par 4 5th makes you think off the tee. The 6th, 9th (SI 2), 10th (SI 1), 12th, 16th and 17th are all good par 4s. The par 3s on the back nine are more challenging than on the front nine.

Greens tend to be large and fairly flat.

Played last week - less than 3 hours. It is hot. But the course is still very green even in the hottest driest weather.

Golf Course Tip

My Golf Course Tip
Play the tees that suit your game. The course is about 7,000yds from the Blues - and in mid summer that feels like a long way!

Fairways and greens is always good advise - this is especially true at this course.

Pros and Cons Reviews

Pros
One of the reasons I like Al Hamra is that it feels like I am getting away from the city. The sky is blue. There is less dust and sand. But it is an hour's drive from Dubai up the Emirates Road and be prepared for the daily Sharjah traffic chaos on the way back. Because it is a distance from Dubai it is quiet on weekdays - great for a fast round. And Saturdays are usually bookable as well. Comfortable club house. Decent food choices. And welcome air conditioning!

Good practice facility.

Cons
Distance from Dubai.

Some of the run offs into the lagoons are harsh. A hard dry bounce off sloping fairways can turn a decent looking shot into a wet ball.

Generally there is no first cut of rough. Miss a fairway by inches and some of the rough can be unpleasant.

Bunkers are baked hard at the moment.
