Abu Dhabi City Golf Club opens 2-tiered Driving Range

Abu Dhabi City Golf Club, Abu Dhabi, information Page.

Abu Dhabi City Golf Club began life as the Abu Dhabi Golf & Equestrian Club in 1976. For 22 years it was an 18-hole sand course but, in 1998, it was transformed into Abu Dhabi's first all grass course. Its nine holes were designed by the respected British golf course designer Ian Scott Taylor.

Located in the Al Mushrif area, in the heart of Abu Dhabi, just 10 minutes from either way- the Corniche or the Exhibition Center on Mussafah Road - Abu Dhabi City Golf Club is a tranquil oasis in one of the Gulf’s most beautiful cities.

The facility provides members and visitors with a relaxed atmosphere away from the hustle of modern day life. What was once an undeveloped sandy area is now arguably one of the finest recreational retreats in the region. The 9-hole Golf Course offers a challenging game to beginners and experienced players alike, with water coming into play at more than half of the holes, and surprisingly for a 9-hole Course, only two Par 3’s.

Abu Dhabi City Golf Club offers Night Golf at the flood-lit facility, which adds another benefit making it the ideal facility for everyone.

Abu Dhabi City Golf Club prides itself for being a valuable contributor and key to “growing golf”. The well established Abu Dhabi City Golf Academy, which is not only well reputed for its annual Junior Golf Academy of up to 300 children, gets you started on the game, and comfortable to get out on the course in a feasible time frame. Our relaxed and uncomplicated approach displays a welcoming atmosphere and encourages beginners, to get started on the game.

Enjoy your Golf in Abu Dhabi.

There is some work to be done here however as a starting course or a fun time out course, you cannot beat the City golf course. Patience is the key here.

Good start

There is some work to be done here however as a starting course or a fun time out course, you cannot beat the City golf course. Patience is the key here.

Golf Course Tip

My Golf Course Tip
Hole 2 needs a 3 wood off the tee unless you're a 300+ driver. The par 5 is a monster and is way too long for most golfers. Greens are slow with high slope, higher speeds attack at the cup work better.

Pros and Cons Reviews

Pros
Good value for money, always a happening club house, location is excellent, easy to get a tee time, alot of events and nights. Food is excellent and well priced, good place for families and kids or great for kids who'd like to play golf/learn.
Cons
Very poor lighting at night time make this course nearly impossible to play without losing a ball, tight shared fairways and high handicap golfers make for some dangerous moments, shared greens on some holes are a tragedy waiting to happen. Greens are very slow and inconsistent. Driving range is across the city from the tee box, this makes warming up nearly impossible.

Known as the Home of Golf for the UAE, and rightly so. Relaxed, cheery. Great pub grub, loads of sports screens with a very detailed weekly planner of what screen is showing what event. Very popular with golfers and non-golfers for a comfortable night out.

The Home of UAE Golf

My Golf Course Tip
Its a tight course, drivers beware of danger. The Par 5 is a brute but chances on both the Par 3's. Hole 2 is a do or die mission!

Pros and Cons Reviews

Pros
Easily the friendliest golf club in the UAE. 9 challenging holes without any of the stuffiness of the other courses. Competitive rates and regular competitions. The outside area has been totally revamped with a new bar and has become the place for a relaxed drink and meal, at the weekend
Cons
The greens are pretty slow in comparison to other Abu Dhabi courses, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. There has been extensive work over the last few years and a proposed sand trap running the length of four holes is causing some members to complain. But, its not really a big deal
